Nut trees come from Europe, among other places. Therefore, with the walnut products from NATUREHOME, you can rely on short CO2-neutral transport routes and the associated low energy consumption. Most of these walnut species thrive in temperate to warmer climates. The European nut trees are therefore often found in the Black Sea countries.

The color palette is wide. It ranges from whitish to pink, grey, brown, reddish and dark striped. The appearance of the high-quality walnut wood varies depending on the location.

How do you recognize walnut wood?

Walnut wood from France has a reddish tinge and a uniform structure. However, the color and grain are often uneven, giving the surface structure a particularly lively character. American walnut, also “Black Walnut” called, generally has a slightly darker and more uniform hue than the European varieties. Sunlight darkens walnut and the wood grain is no longer in the foreground.

How hard is walnut wood?

Walnut is a solid and durable wood. Thanks to its hardness, the wood is very robust and durable and wears out very slowly. In addition, walnut wood is protected against fungal attack. The hardness of the walnut wood is between 23 - 28 HB.

What kind of wood is suitable for a table?

Walnut wood is ideal as a wood for interior design, such as for table tops or small furniture. Like oak and beech, this is a hardwood. The grain of the walnut wood is tight and therefore significantly more resistant than that of the softwood.

Walnut wood is also very easy to work with. NATUREHOME uses this to lovingly transform the valuable wood into unique designer pieces by hand. The dense and smooth surfaces of the wood are particularly easy to stain, wax or oil. Screw connections and glue also hold particularly well. Therefore we can offer you high-quality and durable walnut wood products. The unique pattern of the wood depends not only on the age but also on the location of the tree. The more influence of light, the darker brown the wood becomes.

Fun Fact: Walnut is one of the most commonly imitated types of wood.

Please make sure not to apply too much pressure and only lightly wet the cloth to avoid too much moisture and scratches on the fine wood.

Which oil for walnut?

Small scratches disappear with a mixture of vinegar and oil (1:1). Conventional brandy vinegar and linseed oil are the methods of choice here. The area should be gently treated with a soft woolen cloth. The pressure should be very low. The process itself should be repeated several times in order to achieve the best results and to restore the smoothness and noble shine of the walnut wood surface.

This process alone is not enough for larger scratches or quirks. Furniture Wax seals major imperfections and restores the beauty of the wood.
